Gilt-bronze standing Avalokitesvara, Tang dynasty, China, 7th-8th century. A figure of Avalokitesvara holding down a kalasa flask in the right hand, the left hand is raised to and touches the shoulder. The bead-festooned body has an undulating pose typical of the Tang dynasty. The figure stands on a double lotus with leaves pointing upwards and downwards all on top of a square 4-legged section.
