Gilt bronze figure of a deified lama, Tibet, c1700. A gilt bronze figure of a deified lama seated in attitude of royal ease (rajalilasana) on a rectangular throne moulded round its base and top (except at the back) with lotus petals. His left hand is holding a kalasa and his right hand is in the karana mudra. His face is treated as a portrait with curly beard, moustache and eyebrows and he has a bald head. The figure is shown wearing a monastic robes and slippers, part of his breast is uncovered. The base is sealed with a plate with an inscribed (but not gilded) double vajra. There is a Tibetan inscription incised at the back and the Chinese numeral '50'.
