Yellow glazed dragon saucer, late Qing dynasty, China, 1870-1920.
Yellow glazed dragon saucer, late Qing dynasty, China, 1870-1920. A yellow glazed five-clawed dragon saucer. The dragon in the central medallion (which has a black line border) is frontally facing with two dragons chasing flaming pearls amid foliage in the cavetto under a scalloped edge with black border. The exterior has two more dragons chasing pearls. The base is without glaze left in the biscuit. The scales of the dragon are rendered throughout by careful cross-hatching.
