Jade belt buckle fitting with frontally-facing dragon amid clouds, late Ming dynasty, China, 1550-1644. A rectangular white jade belt buckle fitting of almost lychee-flesh colour with rounded corners. The front is decorated with an incised, frontally-facing five-clawed dragon amid stylised incised clouds in a single incised line cartouche. The pendulent section behind is perforated to take the end of the belt with additional, further partially drilled through section at the back to take the fixing device at the other end of the belt.
