Green marbleware tripod jar and cover, High Tang period, China, 684-756.
Green marbleware tripod jar and cover, High Tang period, China, 684-756. A three-legged globular pot of typical Tang shape and of small size. The legs end in well modelled lion's feet, the body of dark and light brown and white marbled clay throughout, covered by a thin green glaze, a small cover of similarly glazed marbled ware. The mixing of three different coloured clays rather than two colours is unusual.
