Gilt bronze vessel with ring handle, late Ming dynasty, China, 1550-1644. A gilt bronze vessel with ring handle of shaped oval form. The body has incised decoration of butterflies among scrolling chrysanthemums, some of the flowers imposed one on top of the other and some with only half the petals showing. The decoration is executed on a ring-punched background.
