Ferdinand I of Aragon and his Queen at prayer, 1417 (mid 19th century).
Ferdinand I of Aragon and his Queen at prayer, 1417 (mid 19th century). The King and Queen are pictured at prayer at the time of the Council of Constance, 1417. Amongst the other figures depicted are Sigismund (1368-1437), Holy Roman Emperor from 1433, and Pope Martin V (1368-1431). Pope Matin V was elected at the Council of Constance, thus bringing an end to the Western Schism which had split the Catholic Church since 1378.
