Gilt bronze standing figure, probably Guanyin, Liao dynasty, China, 11th century.
Gilt bronze standing figure, probably Guanyin, Liao dynasty, China, 11th century. A small slender gilt bronze figure probably of Guanyin standing swayed back with each foot placed on top of a separate lotus flower atop a small square plinth. The figure is well-draped with one hand pointing earthward, the other holding a round object (peach?). The head has an elaborate headdress somewhat like a bishop's mitre. The ear lobes are pendant.
