Drum-shaped lacquer box, Qing dynasty, Jiaqing period, China, 1796-1820. A large studded drum-shaped polychrome covered lacquer box with internal tray. The box is decorated with moulded and painted peonies, phoenixes, bats, kui dragons and butterflies in gold on a reddish-brown background.
