Blue and white gu-shaped vase, Transitional period, China, c1640-1650. Vase with a narrow anhua band of chrysanthemums and leaves. Above is a wide band with a pair of song birds in flowering peach, magnolia and bamboo trees and ornamental rocks. There is also a band of scrolling begonias and leaves, a narrow anhua band of cresting waves and a band of flames at the base.
