Gilt-bronze monk with alms bowl, China, 17th-18th century.
Gilt-bronze monk with alms bowl, China, 17th-18th century. Monk with alms bowl beside him to his right. His hands are held before him, his right hand covers the left with the palm facing downwards. His shaven head is nicely rendered. His right arm is bare from the elbow down, otherwise the figure is covered by garments with zig-zag leaf decorated borders. The monk is seated on a mat above a rectangular plinth with recessed central section. The plinth also has incised decoration of zig-zag lines and small circles on three sides. The back is undecorated.
