Quadrafoil applique with prancing horned sheep, Han dynasty, China, 206 BC-220 AD. A gilt bronze quadrafoil applique, each leaf in the shape of a spade (from a pack of cards). The piece is finely incised with a prancing long-horned sheep, possibly argali sheep, two with their heads facing forward and two with their heads turned towards the rear. The decoration appears within double-lined borders.
