The 'Revenge' engaging the Spanish fleet off Flores, 1591 (c1900). Cut off from the rest of the English fleet, the 'Revenge', under the command of Sir Richard Grenville (c1542-1591), fought until overwhelmed. Tennyson celebrated the bravery of the crew in his poem The Revenge: A Ballad of the Fleet.
