In the course of his distinguished military career, Lord Raglan served on Wellington's staff from 1808-1812, and fought at Waterloo, losing his sword arm. He was Commander-in-Chief of British troops in the Crimean War, and gave the order for the Charge of the Light Brigade at Balaclava in 1854.
