Yaozhou black glazed Cadogan pot, Jin dynasty, China, 1127-1234.
Yaozhou black glazed Cadogan pot, Jin dynasty, China, 1127-1234. Ewer of globular Cadogan pot form, with handle, short spout and simulated knobbed lid. As the lid is attached to the pot it would have been filled through a tube which rises from the base almost to the top. There are slight repairs on the spout and at the base of the handle. There is some faint floral painted decoration in brown.
