Pair of blue and white dishes, Qing dynasty, early Kangxi period, China, 1662-1677.
Pair of blue and white dishes, Qing dynasty, early Kangxi period, China, 1662-1677. Both dishes are decorated in the centre with a boy riding a horse in a monumental landscape. The design is partly drawn with pencil-drawing in the style of the 'Master of the Rocks'. There is a band of alternating horses and riders and pine trees. The rim has a narrow band of pine needles and wet drawn dots. The reverse has two bamboo sprays and the base has a four character private hall mark.
