Amber lead glazed bowl, Liao dynasty, China, 907-1125 AD.
Amber lead glazed bowl, Liao dynasty, China, 907-1125 AD. Wide reddish-buff pottery bowl with an amber lead glaze. The glaze covers the whole of the inside of the vessel and three quarters down the outside all over a white slip, the glaze suffused with brown flecks. The base is unglazed and shows the slightly reddish clay of the body. There are traces of a 3-point spur mark in the bowl's centre.
