Marbleware bowl, Northern Song, China, 960-1127.
Marbleware bowl, Northern Song, China, 960-1127. Bowl with high slightly turned-in sides of black and white marbleware with a narrow plain white rim and foot. The black and white marbled clay of the main section is built up from the solid one coloured clay foot under a thin transparent glaze. The piece was fired on its short and straight unglazed foot, and is probably from Henan Province.
