Henry IV reproving Prince Henry, (19th century).Artist: J Rogers
Henry IV reproving Prince Henry, (19th century). Henry Bolingbroke (1367-1413) became king in 1399 when he led a baronial revolt that overthrew the rule of Richard II. Ruling as Henry IV, he was the first king of the House of Lancaster. His son, Henry V (1387-1422) became king in 1413. He is popularly regarded as one of England's greatest kings, primarily because of his exploits in war against the French, beginning with his victory at Agincourt in 1415.
