Vincente de Valverde, first Bishop of Cuzco, (1852). A Dominican friar, Valverde (c1490-1543) went to Peru in around 1530. After Francisco Pizarro's conquest of the Inca Empire Valverde was appointed the first Bishop of Cuzco by Charles V in 1537.
