Marshal Massena at the Battle of Wagram, Austria, 5th-6th July 1809, (1904). At the Battle of Wagram, near Vienna, Napoleon's French forces defeated Archduke Charles' Austrian army, effectively bringing the War of the Fifth Coalition to an end. Andre Massena, Duke of Rivoli, Prince of Essling (1758-1817) was a French military commander during the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, regarded by Napoleon as his greatest general.
