Magnanimity is depicted giving away coins from a bowl, Temperance holds an hourglass and gestures to it, and Justice holds the head and crown of a ruler and a sword in her right hand. Lorenzetti was commissioned by the Council of Nine to produce allegorical frescoes covering 3 of the 4 walls of their council chamber, and he produced 6 scenes on the 3 fresco panels.
