The Chateau Frontenac opened in 1893 and was designed by Bruce Price as a chateau style hotel for the Canadian Pacific Railway company or CPR. It was extended in 1924 by William Sutherland Maxwell. The building is now a hotel, the Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac, and is listed as a National Historic Site of Canada. The Historic District of Old Quebec is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
