Loch Leven Castle, built c. 1300, seen from within the curtain walls, on Castle Island in Loch Leven, Perth and Kinross, Scotland. The castle consists of a tower house or keep and a curtain wall. Battles took place here during the Wars of Scottish Independence, and Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned here 1567-68. The castle was restored in the 19th century and is run by Historic Scotland.
