Ruins of the church in the archaeological centre of the Parque Nacional Historico y Arqueologico de La Isabela, or Historical National Park of La Isabela, one of the oldest European settlements in the New World, in Luperon province, on the North coast of the Dominican Republic, in the Caribbean. The town of La Isabela was founded in 1493 by Christopher Columbus and a fort, houses, church, warehouses, and an arsenal were built, but the settlement was abandoned in 1496 due to hurricane damage.
