Church of San Francesco di Paola on the Piazza del Plebiscito, the main square in Naples, Campania, Italy. The square and church were designed in the 19th century by King Joachim Murat of Naples as a tribute to Napoleon. The church was designed by Pietro Bianchi and the portico, with 6 columns and 2 Ionic pillars, by Leopoldo Laperuta. Long curved colonnades flank the building. Naples is the second largest city in Italy and has been settled since the 2nd millennium BC. The historic city centre is the largest in Europe and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
