Apse of the Monasterio de San Francisco, a monastery built 1508 by Spanish Franciscan friars, in the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, in the Caribbean. The complex was built under Nicolas de Ovando and it is the first monastery in the New World. The building has been repeatedly damaged by hurricanes and earthquakes and is now in ruins.
