Public lift designed by Aurelio Galfetti, cut into the bedrock, to access Castelgrande, a large defensive medieval castle in the Old Town of Bellinzona, Ticino, Switzerland. A fortification has been in place here since the 1st century BC, although the current buildings date from the 12th and 15th centuries. The castle is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and now houses the Museo Castelgrande. Picture by Manuel Cohen
