RMS 'Queen Elizabeth', Cunard ocean liner, 20th century. Built by John Brown & Co at Clydebank, the Queen Elizabeth was the world's largest ocean liner when she was launched in 1938. She served as a troopship during World War II before taking up her intended role on the transatlantic route, which she continued to carry passengers on until her retirement in 1968.
