Interior of the Pantheon, Rome, Italy. Artist: A Lorenzini
Interior of the Pantheon, Rome, Italy. View of the dome with light shining from the hole in the roof. Built in the 2nd century during the reign of the Emperor Hadrian as a temple to all Rome's gods, the Pantheon was consecrated as a Christian church in the 7th century. The best preserved example of monumental Roman architecture, it was highly influential on the architects of major public buildings in Europe and America from the Renaissance to the 19th century.
