Effigy of Osric, Gloucester Cathedral, Gloucestershire. Osric, King of the Anglo-Saxon Kingdom of the Hwicce, is said to have founded a monastic house at Gloucester in the 7th century. He was buried beneath Gloucester Abbey and his remains are now housed in this medieval tomb in the cathedral.
