American monument, Mull of Oa, Islay, Scotland. This lighthouse-shaped memorial is dedicated to the crew and American troops killed in the sinking of the passenger liner 'Tuscania' and HMS 'Otranto' off Islay in separate incidents in 1918. The 'Tuscania' was sunk by a German U-boat, while the 'Otranto' was lost after colliding with another ship, HMS 'Kashmir', in a heavy storm.
