The Stahlhelm (Steel Helmets) was a large nationalistic paramilitary organisation opposed to the policies of the Weimar Republic in Germany between the World Wars. Founded in Magdeburg in 1918 by Franz Seldte, it was eventually absorbed by the Nazi SA in 1934-1935.  From Deutsche Gedenkhalle: Das Neue Deutschland compiled by General Von Eisenhart Rothe, 1939.
