Sir Edward Burne-Jones and William Morris, 19th century. Morris (1834-1896) was one of the principal founders of the British Arts and Crafts movement. One of the second wave of Pre-Raphaelite painters and initially much influenced by Morris and Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Burne-Jones (1833-1898) gave up his plans to enter the priesthood to become a painter in the late 1850s.
