Mustafa II, Ottoman Emperor, (1808). Mustafa (1664-1703) became Sultan in 1695. His reign saw the empire embroiled in a prolonged and unsuccessful war against the Holy League of Austria, Poland and Venice that lost territories in the Balkans and adversely affected the economy. Mustafa was deposed in a military coup in 1703 and replaced by his brother, Ahmed III. From A series of Portraits of the Emperors of Turkey, 1808.
