Spire of St. Martin's Ludgate and St. Paul's Cathedral, 20th century. Street scene with a view across Ludgate Circus and up Ludgate Hill. Sir Christopher Wren (1632 -1723) was commissioned in 1675 to build the cathedral after the previous one was destroyed by the Great Fire of London. He also rebuilt the Church of St Martin, Ludgate, between 1677 and 1684.
