Castle of Saranta Kolones, Paphos, Cyprus, 2001. Saranta Kolones was built in the 13th century by the Lusignans, French Crusaders who ruled Cyprus from 1192 until 1474, possibly on the site of an earlier Byzantine fortress. It was destroyed by an earthquake in 1223.
