US President Warren G Harding returning from his inauguration, Washington DC, USA, 4th March 1921. After the inauguration, Harding (1865-1923) and his wife, Florence (1860-1924) drove in triumph to the White House. A Republican, Harding won the 1920 US presidential election, easily defeating Democratic candidate James M Cox. The 29th President of the United States, he died from a heart attack halfway through his term and was succeeded by his Vice-President, Calvin Coolidge.
