'Hercules Wrestling with Antaeus', 1925. According to Greek Mythology, Antaeus was a giant, the son of Poseidon and Gaia. He would challenge passers-by to a wrestling match and collected their skulls after defeating them. He possessed unbeatable strength so long as he remained in contact with the ground, but if not, was as weak as other men. Hercules was able to lift him in the air and crush him in a bear hug. Illustration from The Book of Myths by Amy Cruse, 1925.
