Red lacquer display cabinet, China, 1550-1644. Late Ming dynasty cabinet and stand on a soft wood base with cloth covering. The cabinet, probably from Fujian province, is covered all over with lacquer of brick red colour with scenes of egrets in a lotus pond, both on detachable doors operated on peg hinges. The doors have 18th century famille rose cloisonne enamel handles and elongated plates depicting birds and flowers.
