Jade covered gourd shaped hu, Southern Song or Yuan dynasty, China, 12th-14th century. A gourd shaped hu vessel and cover with archaistic decorations standing on a tall foot with raised ridge. The handle is in the form of a kui dragon, the body with four bands of archaistic relief. The cover is decorated with two relief bands and the cover's knob is formed by two segments of a circle conjoined.
