Doucai cup, Qing dynasty, late Kangxi period, China, 1700-1722.
Doucai cup, Qing dynasty, late Kangxi period, China, 1700-1722. Small, shallow wide-mouthed U-shaped bowl decorated in the interior with a five-clawed green frontally-facing imperial dragon amid clouds in a medallion. On the exterior are bagua medallions in pale orange between storks in flight and flaming pearls under a classic scroll border with flower heads. All decoration is in doucai enamels. The recessed base has a six character Chenghua mark within a double circle in underglaze blue but the piece is of the late Kangxi period (1700-1722).
