Jade landscape pebble of tethered horse and scholar, early Qing dynasty, China, late 17th century. A pale green and russet jade pebble of kidney shape carved with a travelling bearded scholar in rocky landscape. The scholar's horse is tied to a wutong tree. The reverse is decorated with bamboo in relief by a flowing stream under a crag. Much of the original pebble form remains.
