Brown glazed globular stoneware jar, Southern Song or early Yuan dynasty, China, 13th century. A deep jar of round globular metalware shape with slightly everted lip and concave section underneath the lip. The body has horizontal knife-parred bands covering 3/4 of its exterior and a mottled deep brown glaze covering the inside and most of the outside ending before the base. The exposed body is pale and slightly oxidized. Probably from the Jizhou kiln.
