Bowl with yellowish-green glaze with brown spots and chocolate slipped base, Song dynasty, China, 960-1279. A round bowl with pale body and very thin yellowish crackled glaze with underglaze brown spots on the exterior. The base is unglazed and treated with a chocolate slip and incised mark. The heavily crazed and earth-stained glaze has peeled and chipped in several places revealing the body and underglaze brown spots.
