Jade square seal with kui dragon finial, early Six Dynasties period or earlier, China, c220-589. A square jade seal of white 'fatty' colour with blackish brown suffusions surmounted by a kui dragon. The dragon's head has one horn coiled up, its body is contorted and its tail biforcated (one curled to a point). Some of the haunches have plain ribbon-like protrusions. The sides of the seal are plain but the top has one narrow concave sloping facet.
