Red agate dagger scabbard slide, Western Han dynasty, China, 206 BC-8.
Red agate dagger scabbard slide, Western Han dynasty, China, 206 BC-8. A red, spotted brown and clear agate dagger scabbard slide. The top is arched lengthwise with three plain bands of approximately equal width; the outer bands are concave, the inner band convex. A pendulant rectangular section of greyish white agate extends below the central section of the fitting which would have been inserted into a rectangular recess in the sheath or scabbard of the dagger.
