Jade deer with broad tail, late Tang, Five Dynasties period or early Liao dynasty, China, 845-950. A jade deer with two three-pronged horns, its front legs bunched up and folded under with knee protruding, as if just about to rise. Its face is massively formed with a very worn appearance, its tail is broad, fat and stubby. The jade is of grey-brown colour.
