Jade bead with taotie masks, neolithic, Liangzhu culture, China, c3400-2250 BC. A small altered jade tubular bead of ivory white colour pierced by drillings from both ends with uneven join. The central portion is inset with a narrow undecorated band. The two end sections are each decorated with two taotie masks showing rectangular nose and large eyes with complicated incised patterns.
