Jade recumbent horse, Southern Song dynasty, China, 1127-1279. A jade horse of brown-flecked white colour. The well modelled, relatively small head is stretched forward and rests on its two front legs which extend forward from the body and are bent at the hocks. The tail is down and comes up and over the left leg.
